Perched on the cliff edge, a thousand feet above the sea surrounding Capri, Caesar Augustus was originally built in the 1850s as the private residence of a wealthy German businessman. In the early 1900s, a Russian Prince purchased the property and turned it into his majestic island home, complete with life-size statue of Emperor Augustus. The hotel was transformed into a hotel in the mid 20th century and is now considered one of Italy's finest luxury hotels.
