Rich in tradition, the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa has been welcoming guests from all over the world since 1859, making sure they experience an unforgettable stay in the heart of Switzerland’s charming capital city.
The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa, also known as "Hotel Fetzer" or "Zähringerhof" in the 19th century, received its present name in 1859 from Daniel Vogel. In 1911 the then Hotel Schweizerhof was demolished and ceremonially opened on 1 July 1913. In 1939 Jack Gauer took over the management of the prestigious hotel. In the following years the hotel was renovated several times.
In 2005 the hotel was closed for extensive renovation work. In 2009, a 2-year comprehensive renovation began. Today the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa is part of the portfolio of the Bürgenstock Selection. After more than 160 years of history, another glamorous chapter of the famous Bernese luxury hotel is now beginning.
